Homemade zaatar recipe - low in FODMAPs
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) dried oregano
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) dried thyme
- 1 tsp (5 ml) sumac
- ¼ tsp (1.25 ml) salt
Instructions
- In a frying pan, over medium-high heat, brown the sesame seeds for 5 to 7 minutes without adding any fat. Stir frequently and remove from heat as soon as the sesame changes color. Transfer immediately to a small bowl to stop cooking.
- Add the remaining ingredients and mix.
- If desired, grind the spice mixture to a powder using a mortar and pestle.
- Store in an airtight container.
Notes
Keeps for 6 months at room temperature.
